Walking Spiders Race in HMS Makerspace!

In Mr. Doran's Science 8 class, students participated in a "walking spiders" race in the HMS Makerspace with Mrs. Kosior, library media specialist. Students designed, built, tested, and redesigned their own "spiders". Throughout this process, the students showcased their problem-solving strategies by improving their designs and understanding the relationships between the different parts of their creations. They analyzed how the mass and surface area of their spiders affected the force and angle applied, which ultimately influenced how quickly their spiders crossed the finish line.
